Dr Laurence Kimmel:

I’m happy to announce an exhibition entitled ‘Cut Insight’ I am curating at the Sheffer gallery, Sydney, and would like to invite you to the opening on the 11th April 2018 at 6pm. This exhibition presents works by French artists Maxime Thieffine, Sarah Tritz, Claire-Jeanne Jezequel and Eric Stephany. The links between works are not especially made on the base of their nationality, but on resonances between their practices, the subjects they explore, and the media they use. The artworks are chosen based on their spatial characteristics, directly through sculptures or performance in an architectural context, or through two-dimensional works like photography, scanner-based photography, collages, leadlight and painting. The artworks display different strategies of ‘cuts’ or representation of cuts, that relate the two-dimensional work to three-dimensional characteristics.

It is the first Australian exhibition of these renowned contemporary French artists.
